Mignon Faget is a beloved boutique jewelry designer in New Orleans. The brand had rich history and a ton of local cache, but had become dated, and its visual identity was failing to convey the sophistication, craft and quality of their pieces, which are inspired by the nature, culture and architecture of the Gulf South. I led a design team at PeterMayer that relaid the foundations of Mignon Faget’s visual identity with a logo suite and distinctive color palette that would make their brand stand out in a modern context.
The new Mignon Faget brand identity centers around a striking monogram that combines traditional typographical letterforms into a memorable, modern icon. Like Mignon Faget’s jewelry, the monogram echoes the forms of nature and architecture, with leaf-like tendrils and columnar verticals. It evokes Carnival royalty, lavishness and pageantry, but retains an understated sophistication that earns attention without screaming for it.
